What is tapioca pearls?
Tapioca pearls come in different sizes but the most common ones in boba tea are small 5mm edible balls made from tapioca starch which is derived from cassava root.
There are two types of large tapiocas, fresh dried tapioca which Bobatein carries, and ones you can purchase in the supermarket, which have preservatives.
You can purchase them precooked but the shelf-life is shorter compared to the ones you have to make at home. The tapioca pearls you have to cook are better than precooked ready-to-eat because you can serve them fresh when you like and have a longer shelf-life.
